In Memoriam of Leon Moed

“Leon was the bedrock of MdeAS’ foundation. He built the solid framework that has supported the success of many of our projects and the growth of many architects.” - Dan Shannon, Principal

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our colleague, friend, and founding partner Leon Moed.

Leon established Moed de Armas Architects with Raúl de Armas in 1991 after a distinguished career as a Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Over the course of 60 years he was involved in more than 25 million square feet of construction, including momentous projects in New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and internationally.

Brilliant at solving problems, Leon was always deliberate and methodical. He believed his highest responsibility was in building young architects. His mentorship was his greatest work, and his legacy lives on in the generations of architects that have followed in his footsteps.
